As the weather gets cooler (and in August no less!) it’s time to start putting away the summer threads and pull out the chill-reducing cardigans and transitional tees. Fall is on its way and we must be ready with the best piece of the season. Here’s a taste of what’s on the way in trends for fall 2014.
Jessica Alba in a Cashmere cardigan
Fall without cardigans is like winter without gloves. Cardigans are everything for fall, especially when they come in cashmere, making them even more lust worthy. Wrapping yourself in luxurious cashmere is in this fall.

Fashionable prints always stand out and this fall they’re making a statement in bright colors and bold designs. On the runways, we saw everything from bird patterns emblazoned on sweaters to squiggly rave prints on button down tops. Stripes are a season staple but this fall make your prints dapper and daring by going bold.
Kate Middleton and Kim Kardashian in stylish scarves
Scarves are essential in cooler weather and the scarves you wear this fall don’t have to be wool, just yet. Easy, breezy and decorative scarves keep you warmer and make a statement.

Knits, like downplayed cashmere, are comfortable and keep you warm. Incorporating knit into your daily ensemble, whether in dresses, scarves, or cardigans, makes for the perfect addition to your fall 2014 wardrobe.
Orange is the New Black

Another big trend from the fall 2014 runways: orange is the new black. It’s also fun and playful, and you’ll have to search hard to find a trendier, more fashionable color than this. I can’t wait to see which celebs include this in their must-have list this season. Throw it on over a tee like Hilary Duff to really make your outfit pop.
Sixties are Back
From geometric prints to midi skirts and dresses, the 60s are back big time this season. If you want to keep up, you’re going to need at least one 60s dress in your closet. Who knew the Mad Men look will become more popular than ever?

Pants and tights are absolutely fall must-haves, but let’s take it up a notch with decorative tights and trousers. After all, ornamentation isn’t only for jewelry. Embroidered hosiery and patterned pants deserve a spot in your Fall wardrobe.
Kim Kardashian in a gorgeous velvet dress
Let’s end this fall fashion list with a little texture. Velvet is back and better than ever. No, it’s not time to bust out that velvet and velour Juicy Couture track suit, but it is time to work some luscious velvet into your wardrobe in the form of a blazer or dress. This fabric can be tricky to wear, so take your cue from celebs like Kim Kardashian and Beyonce and make sure you play up the right colors and shape.
